An artist-run space is a gallery space run by artists, thus circumventing the structures of public and private galleries. Artist-run spaces have become realised as an important factor in urban regeneration. This effect was particularly strong in Glasgow, where the city won the accolade 'European Capital of Culture' in 1990, largely due to the large number of artist-run exhibition spaces and galleries.[1] Curator Hans Ulrich Obrist coined the term "The Glasgow Miracle" to describe this. Examples of artist-run spaces include City Racing, BANK, studio1.1, [2] Studio Voltaire, Cubitt and Auto Italia South East in London, Milwaukee's BATHAS Internationale...

Polar Bear is ready to come back in early Autumn, before she sleeps again during the cold Winter.

3 137 begins this year's program with an artists' books group show.

Polar Bear, the autonomous experimental publishing project by 3 137, comes back for the third time under the title of Cloud. 19 artists and other kind of professionals are invited to make a new piece for the show which examines the form of a book. This year's Polar Bear guests are artists, curators, poets and a young student.

This year's theme is cloud, the one we watch travelling across the sky, the one that brings the rain as well as the digital one, which collects and arranges information on web intangible shelves. A group show about the moment that rains, about the clouds that walk, grow up or shorten, change colors, hide the sun or create shadow. A group show about the weather everyday talk, our mood that changes depending on the sun, about accumulation, humidity and explosion. A group show about our online account which is loaded with images and files. About our account which opens through different devices, connects different places, spaces and times. A group show about network and connectivity. This group show is a cloud that can bring heavy rain in any time. A cloud that can appear and disappear immediately.

The exhibition is accompanied by a text by Maria Papapostolou. The opening day will close with a dj set by Poke Me Hard and Damião.
